Startup a bit slow
It seems to me the MMDC startup is a bit slow (approximately 8-10''), probably because it launches request to iCloud in order to Open Window, perhaps it's due to my internet connection; anyway, is it possible to add a preferences command to manage open window? For instance one could open MMDC directly with a new blank document, or with the last document opened.

Which version are you using? Is this on both computers, or the same one that can't get the sidebars right?
Composer launches in under a second or so on my machines
MMDC does (if you have the preference checked) check a webpage (a single line of text) to see if there are any new announcements. Prior to b 26 this could cause a delay under certain circumstances with a broken internet connection, but worked quickly with normal internet or no network connection. This should be fixed as of b26.

Wonderful! With B27 it takes a second on iMac and slightly more on MacBook
