<p>Thanks for writing in and for your suggestions.</p>
<p>Hopefully, the reasons why MultiMarkdown Composer is focused on
the MultiMarkdown syntax are fairly obvious. I have no plans to
support other variations of Markdown outside of my own. Since
MultiMarkdown has a "compatibility" mode that mimics that of the
original Markdown (with minor exceptions in edge cases), it is
compatible with other Markdown variations that stay true to the
original feature set. It does not, however, support "extensions"
added by these other variants.</p>
<p>As to your specific desired features:</p>

<p>I actually think GFM's newline approach is a mistake, and I
don't foresee ever adding it to MultiMarkdown.</p>

<p>MMD recently added support for GFM's fenced codeblock style,
including the target language support. So syntax highlighting is
supported. Simply link your document to your desired highlighting
utility. If it uses the standard approach, it will allow for
highlighting:</p>
