Size of window and white space on left and right side of text

This concerns both versions 2.8 and 3.0b45.

In MMC with a window which is not too wide, the text goes up to the left and right edges. If the window is resized in width, eventually the text no longer goes up to the left and right edges. White space appears on the left and right edges. The attached files show what is meant in case the description is not clear.

Is there a setting which allows the text to go up to the edges irrespective of the width of the window? I have tried the various settings available in Preferences / Appearance, but they do not appear to change this behaviour.

    Victor,

    Thanks for writing in.

The preferences in question are the maximum line length and left/right
padding around text, depending on exactly what you're trying to do.

As noted in the preferences, these settings can be overridden by themes
(styles in v2). You might want to switch to the Plain theme/style so
you can be sure your preferences aren't being overridden. Once you
understand how things work, you can experiment with other themes or
    create your own.

    Hope this helps!
