Say I have enabled "autocomplete labels" in MMDC and I a header # FOO # in my document. Later on I want to type something like [food](xxx). How can I ignore the autocomplete and not have the case mangled in that link text?

As a temporary fix, if you start the link with a <space>, it won't match
"FOO" on the autocompletion, and you can type whatever you like. And
technically, since spaces are ignored, the link will remain functional
if you forget to delete it afterwards.

I'll work on a better solution, but I'm tied up with a few other things
    at the moment.

This has been fixed for a future release of Composer
