I am using Multimarkdown Composer Version 2.6.1 (45).

I have set in Preference that the marker for italics is _ (underline)

However, in the live preview window, italics is not italicized and shows the underlines.

Not sure what you're doing, but your example works fine for me.

And while that example is ok, it's dangerously close to `this_isn't_italics`. Intraword underlines don't work in MMD, but do in Markdown.

Here is the file - search for "awesome". You'll see that some italics above it work, but not on that line. Something about that line and some of the other lines with italics is botching the Multimarkdown Composer parser. Marked does fine with the file.

I think I've discovered two of the problems: there is an option-space " " before one of the non-working italics, and an m-dash "—" before one of the others. I suspect other special characters are causing the problems. Marked does not have these problems.

I can replace all the option-space with spaces, but there should not be a space before or after m-dashes.

I can't speak for Marked, there are certain areas where Brett does his own thing rather than following the MultiMarkdown standard.

But if you want intra-word italics and bold in MultiMarkdown, use asterisks instead of underscores. If your markup is surrounded by normal whitespace, underscores are fine.
