MMD Composer crashes every time it opens
I tried loading a 520KB (85000 words) MMD file into MMD Composer, but it crashed. And now every time I open it, it just crashes again, trying to open the same file.

Sorry you're having trouble. Can you send the crash report? Any relevant messages in the Console?
Also, a copy of the file that's causing trouble would be helpful. I periodically test with large files, and just reopened a 553kb (90k word) file. It's a bit slow to load, but once loaded it seems to work fine. There may be something specific about your file that's problematic. Also, it's been quite a while since I've been able to get Composer to crash, *outside* of trying to edit files that were corrupted.

Those console messages have some strange method names in them. For example, CGSUpdateManager. I can't find any reference to that method name on the internet, in Apple's forums, or in any developer documentation anywhere. Until I can find something showing otherwise, my best guess is that they are related to another application or "extension"?
Additionally, the console messages suggest that the problem occurs during a file save/open procedure. What exactly are you doing when the crash happens? Are you opening a file? Is the preview turned on in the file dialog? Do you have any QuickLook extensions installed that preview Markdown/MultiMarkdown files -- e.g. mine or any one else's? Try turning those off.
If that doesn't solve it, try creating a new user account on your machine and opening the document in Composer there. That will eliminate any "user space" third party applications/extensions. The next thing would be to disable any third party applications that are installed at the system level.
I intentionally force quit MMDC while my large document was open, so that it would be reopened at launch. I did this with the preview turned on and off. It did just fine (slow, but fine.)
Thus far I am unable to replicate the problem with my own large file, but I'm happy to test your file if you send it to me.

Also, while doing the restarting process multiple times, I had no console messages from Composer, and none containing "CGSUpdateManager."

I hadn't run 10.9 in a while because, quite frankly, it's not finished. It was causing all sorts of weirdness with Composer, but not crashes.
I updated my 10.9 install today to test it out, and it kept crashing. The crashed thread is the same one you saw. I'm trying to fix that one, but be aware that 10.9 is still causing some strange behavior, and I can't guarantee Composer will work properly until Apple fixes 10.9, and I have a chance to respond to any new hoops I have to jump through.
I am going to pop up a message from now on that 10.9 isn't finished and strangeness may follow.

No worries. I should have remembered to ask.
2.4.7 (which I'm releasing shortly) will pop up a message warning about 10.9, and disables the feature that causes the crash --- trying to allow permission for accessing files on a sandboxed machine.
