Large space above begining of text

I seem to be having a problem that started a few days ago. I don't think that it's something I've done but I did make my own stylesheet (which I'm not using here). I've attached two screenshots of the problem; here's a description:
When I start a new document, the window size is as you see in the first attached screenshot, with the cursor in the middle. Within 1-2 seconds of typing the first character, the window automatically resizes as you see in the second screenshot. However, that position in both screenshots is actually the top of the document. As I type, the text scrolls up and a scroll bar appears. You can see the several inches of blank space at the top.

I've attached the Default.style file that I'm using in these screenshots and as they likely show, I'm using a MacBook Pro Retina.

Is this something I've done or is this an issue? As a side note (I'll send a separate email if required), is there a way to set the default way the editor opens? I don't usually want the preview window to open so I close it but MultiMarkdown Composer 2 doesn't remember my settings so each time I open a document I have to adjust it back to the way I had it.

Thanks,
Jeff
