File-open state memory problem
2.7.2 (57) has been insisting on opening the same set of (old, no longer active) files on startup. I tried manually deleting them from prefs, to no avail (they reappeared). They seemed to be being picked up from the recent-files list.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this.
Composer doesn't actually handle this -- the OS does. Composer only opens what the OS tells it to open.
I would suggest rebooting your mac to see if that fixes it.
If not, you can dig around the library folder for problematic files:

A few years ago I seem to remember finding aliases to the files in the Library folder somewhere, but can't remember where.
