Weird. y^2 is displayed properly as a superscript in both the MMD Preview window and in Marked2, but if the exponent is not a number like H^+ it displays literally "H^+" -- both in the MMD Preview window and in Marked2. If I save a text file with H^+ in BBEdit it displays properly in Marked2.

H^+ has punctuation instead of a "regular" character following the `^`.
So that doesn't match as an exponent.

    The proper syntax would be:

    H^+^

`y^2` takes advantage of the "shortcut" syntax, but that only works with
    numbers and letters (basically).

    F-
