MultiMarkdown Composer 4

Hi! I've been having lots of issues with MultiMarkdown editors/viewers on my MacBook Air. Even MultiMarkdown Composer has had issues (not opening to a full screen has been one consistent issue).

Recently I uninstalled MultiMarkdown Composer and have reinstalled it today. It seems I have installed MultiMarkdown Composer 4 which has new features but also seems to have LOST some essential features such as printing and accessing the Templates folder.

I tried to purchase an upgrade but NOTHING happens.

This is really annoying! All I want is an app that behaves like almost all others (opens to a full screen size for instance) and whose functions work (I don't mind paying for upgrades but when the buttons to do that DON'T WORK!).

Seriously, I think I'm better to forget MultiMarkdown and use BBEdit and HTML or Apple's Pages! At least these apps work!

    Peter,

    Sorry you're having trouble. Sounds like there are a few different issues:

    1. MultiMarkdown Composer v4 was released several hours ago. All of
    my testing for in-app purchases worked fine, but you and another person
    are reporting trouble getting them to work "for real." I'm trying to
    troubleshoot this, but no luck so far. Are you still logged in to the
    App Store? Any error messages in the Console Application (search for
    MultiMarkdown Composer to narrow it down) Which App Store are you using
    (e.g. US? Another?)

    2. The free version of v4 is limited to a single document at a time, and
    does not support printing/exporting. It's in-between the old Demo
    version and the paid version. The v4 Standard Upgrade is roughly
    equivalent to v2 paid, and Pro offers some additional features with more
    planned.

    3. If you purchased v2, you can still use it. In the App Store, go to
    the "Purchased" tab and reinstall v2. It will work the same as it
    always did, especially while there are issues upgrading v4.

    4. What is the issue you are having with "full screen"? Both v2 and v4
    support any size window, and both support the macOS Full Screen mode
    where the document window takes over an entire monitor. If you're
    having trouble with this, please send me a screen shot and I'll take a look.

    Again -- I'm sorry you're having trouble, and I'll work to fix them as
    quickly as possible.

    Also, the v4 beta is still avalaible if you need something right away.
    There is one beta tester from NZ who is having trouble purchasing an
    upgrade in the NZ store, so I think there is an issue with non-US regions???

    Hi, I can confirm that trying to upgrade MultiMarkdown Composer 4 doesn't work in the Dutch App Store. The two "Purchase"-buttons have no noticable reaction, the "Restore"-button at least opens a window that asks for my App Store password, but nothing more. (As a side-note: I see no pricing information for the two upgrade-options. Adding that would be nice too.)
    I know it's early days – early hours even – and problems will be solved soon.

    Totally unrelated to the above, but maybe you're open to feature-requests: if MultiMarkdown Composer could interpret the Fountain scriptwriting markdown language as well, that would be great.

    The price information *should* be there. I think it is not there
    because of an issue with non-US stores.

    I've thought about Fountain support before, but it might require a
    different app. I'll still consider it.

    If the Dutch App Store starts working, please let me know (you will need
    to quit and reopen Composer to have it reverify the purchases-information.)

    PS> Any useful information in the Console app when you try to run Composer? I'm looking for anything that might point towards a solution for non-US app stores. I have a request out to Apple, but who knows when that might come through.

    Re, the "not opening full screen" see the two "Screen Shot..." files; the second shows where I tried to change the "Matte ximum Full Screen Width" value to something really big. Doesn't seem to matter what I put in that field the FIRST opening of any Markdown file opens in about half screen size and has to be manually stretched to a workable size.

    There is another problem (see "MultiMarkdown Preview" file; it best explains the issue.

    Sorry to be grumpy before. I really like your app but I seem to be having heaps of issues with all the main Markdown editors (yours, ByWord and Marked 2) and its so frustrating. Using BBEdit and HTML documents is a little slower to do the markup but works 100% correct every time. I would like to get to this stage with Markdown.

    PS: Have a look at Textastic on iOS (not the macOS version) for a really nice way to handle MultiMarkdown documents! I'd like this on my Mac!

    Hi,

    this time the pricing showed up in the window and the buttons worked.

    I don't know if you fixed something, of if some App-Store stuff had to trickle through (I have no idea how the App Store works).

    Congratulations with the release, by the way, and good luck with any more wrinkles that might show up.

    Peter,

    The "Full screen width" is for when you are in full screen mode. The
    image you sent is a regular window (not a full screen window). You can
    make it as big as you like by dragging the edge. If you hit the green
    button in the upper left, it will go to full screen mode.

    The preview spacing is two things:

    1. In order to allow proper alignment, there needs to be some whitespace
    above the preview. Normally you don't see it when the preview is centered.

    2. Sometimes when you first open a document, the preview and editor are
    not properly aligned (it's a strange "race condition" that I have not
    solved). But as soon as you start typing, they will line up and the the
    extra space is not seen.

    It's been > 24 hours, and the App Store should be updated throughout the world.

    Version 4.0.1 has been released, which also attempts to improve the App Store integration.
