CriticMarkup "criticSubstitution" odd behavior in V4

I'm encountering this issue, where after functioning as expected on a file (ie. {~~work is easy to see~>the effort is evident~~}), suddenly Substitution in CM stops working properly.

I select a section of text and then start typing in the desired changes but every keystroke after the first input is ignored. In effect, you can only substitute the selection for a single letter (ie. {~~work is easy to see~>t~~}). I am still able to delete the text (ie. {--work is easy to see--}) and then add the new text (ie. {++the effort is evident++}) but substitution simply locks up after the first character.

Is it something I have done or is this an issue to be flagged?

Thanks for your help.

P.s. As a related/unrelated suggestion, it would be very useful if there were someway to have the theme display the removed word(s) in a substitution in the Deletion color and the added word in the Addition color, while the markup remained whatever the Substitution color is. Not sure if this is possible but it would be visually helpful.

Can you send me the file that this happens with?

Or a screencast showing exactly what you're doing? (Quicktime Player
    can record one).

It works fine for me when I try it in my files.

    Things to remember:

    1. When track changes are on, you can't modify CriticMarkup tokens. So
if you accidentally put the cursor inside `~~}` for example, nothing
    will happen.

    2. Nested CM constructions (e.g. deletion inside an insertion, etc.) can
be tricky. If you end up needing that, you may need to turn off track
    changes and do it manually.

    3. What happens when you reopen the file? Is it still stuck or has it
    started working?

    Hi,

I've attached a file that has the described issue.

    1. I'm aware of this. The issue is present in some files but not all. Older files seem to be fine. And most of the new files. I've attached one of the two files that I know are effected. The issue seems random at this point.

    2. This isn't something I need. But I would like the Substitution (and all MMD and CM usage to work consistently across all files. This is why I am bringing it to your attention. If only so that you can see how something I did in these files broke the expected functionality.

    3. The substitution use is still stuck after shutting and reopening files, as well as restarting MMC.

That file let me recreate it.

The issue occurs only when you have Track Changes enabled **and** you're
working somewhere after a multibyte UTF-8 character.

This is fixed for 4.0.4 (4.0.3 has already been submitted, so it won't
    be in that version.)

    Thanks for sending the example!

    No problem.

Glad you honed in on the issue so easily.

    Looking forward to the updates.
