Sorry for the trouble.

The file preview is handled by macOS/QuickLook. If there's a problem, it's caused by QuickLook, and unfortunately there is little I can do about. You can try rebooting, or can use
mdls your_file.txt
to try and figure out which app/QuickLook generator is being used.

You can still edit the file though, since it does not rely on a functioning QuickLook preview.

I am testing out an entirely new approach, that will allow directly editing text files rather than previewing them, and only previewing non-text files. But that code needs further testing before I can migrate it to Composer.

I am mainly interested in just having the project
window available so it’s not all that important to me. It used to work
so I thought I better report it. The new approach sounds interesting. I
hope it works.

Best wishes,

If it used to work and stopped, you may have installed some new software that changed which QuickLook Generator is being used (or removed an application that used to provide one.)

One possibility is to change the file extension of your files to "trick" the system in to treating them differently (e.g. "txt" to "md", or "md" to "txt").

The new system is working great so far, and is being used as part of a new app I am working on with Brett Terpstra. Once it is released, that feature, and several other upgrades will make their way back to Composer.
