TLDR; I can probably fix the "wrap stuff in asterisks" command, but it
    won't accomplish what you want.

It's actually a touch more complicated.

    1. I was convinced it would be the smiley face, but you're right -- it's
    the HTML.

    2. Fixing it isn't going to give you the result that you want. Inside a
<p> like that, Markdown markup is not supported. And even though the
<p> technically ends before the area in question, starting a block with
<p> turns the entire block into HTML.

    3. To apply bold, you would need to use <strong> manually.

    4. To use styles, wrap the markup in <div>'s instead and use that to
    provide styles, rather than <p>.

How do I indent? Is <div> what I should use?

I would first consider blockquotes to indent, depending on context.

Otherwise, could use a div to allow CSS to target specific paragraphs
    for custom styling.

Found the issue causing the offset wrapping.

    Thanks for pointing this out!!

The problem is I copy/paste the HTML output from Marked 2 into my emails
    for ConvertKit.

So I don't want it to be a quote, hence why I used the <p></p> ... since
that's what they convert it to.
