Latest version (4.4.0) won't open any files

with the newest version (Pro upgrade purchased), I can't open any files with MMC. I can write a new file, but when I've closed it, I cannot reopen it. The File Open dialogue is showing up, but when I choose a file, nothing happens. I can open a directory and get a window with the list of files in it and a preview, but when clicking on a file nothing happens again. The Preferences window and the Syntax Guide are working, only my Markdown files won't open.

    Are you running macOS 10.11?

There's a fix for 10.11 coming soon. There is an Apple bug in older
versions of macOS that was apparently fixed in macOS 10.12 that I didn't
realize I needed to account for.

No, 10.13.5 latest public beta here. I just updated to MMC 4.4.1, same thing … :-(

Don't know if this helps: There are several entries in the system log with the message:

    MultiMarkdown Composer[1268]: assertion failed: 17F70a: libxpc.dylib + 75093 [16132357-B57A-35F5-B165-487D3F759F45]: 0x89

I was on 10.13.4. Upgraded to 10.13.5. When running 4.4.1, my files won't open either. But the log message you sent is unrelated (to best of my knowledge and a quick google search).

However, when I run a test build in Xcode, documents open just fine, despite me not changing anything. Even when I revert back to the state when I compiled 4.4.1.

When I build a test build of 4.4.2, it seems to work on 10.13.5 beta, so maybe there was something fixed inadvertently?

Let me know if 4.4.2 doesn't work for you and I'll keep digging.
