I'm afraid I don't understand. The default settings should be used
for new documents.

Which settings are you referring to?

Thanks!

Say I disable the preview, when I open a doc next time I do not want to see the preview. Basically I should use the settings I last chose. Thanks.

Best regards,

Main/Home Screen -> Settings -> Preview -> Display Preview

If you disable the preview there, it will not be displayed whenever you
open a new document.

Turning it on/off within a document does not change the default settings.

This behavior is the same as Composer for macOS.

I only changed it via the wheel icon on the top right. Thanks for clarifying!

Diethard Steinertag:support.multimarkdown.com,2013-02-12:Comment/465538212018-11-27T21:03:23Z2018-11-27T21:03:23ZPersist settings

Yes -- the gear icon applies to the currently open document only.
