Hi Fletcher, thanks for your fast work. The Sidebar Appearance set up on Yosemite Light shows characters a bit confused, as you can see in the attached screenshot.

What OS version are you using?

Strange. I've never seen that (except when I was experimenting with
    overriding the fonts).

    1) I assume you meant Yosemite Dark, not Light, given the dark background.

    2) What theme are you using?

    3) Can you replicate it?

    1) I meant really Yosemite Light, below a screenshot of Yosemite Dark
    2) I'm using the Default theme
    3) I'm not sure I understand what means "replicate it"

What version of Composer are you using?

Can you send a screenshot of the entire screen, rather than just a small piece?

    Something doesn't make sense.

    Sure, I'm sorry!

Here the screen shots; with Aqua e Themes I've no problems.

What does your background wallpaper look like?

You have a lot of icons in your menu bar. Anything that changes the
    visual look of macOS?

What happens after you reboot and turn most of those off?

I can't make Composer look like that on my computer no matter what I do.

My desktop background is a simple jpeg

Many icons in my menu bar are system preferences, the others don't affect the visual look.

I'll try with a safe reboot.

I tried with a safe reboot (startup with shift pressed) but the trouble goes on.

Something really strange is going on. Attached is a side by side of what Light and Dark sidebars look like on top of a colored background (visible at the bottom). The text is different colors on each.

You can partially see the background behind the tables.

There is something very strange going on in your machine, and I'm not entirely sure it's Composer's fault.

What do your Finder windows look like? The sidebar to the left of the finder windows should match the Light theme in my picture (unless you customized your Mac).

First of all, I've downloaded MMDC v21.
Second, I've changed the desktop background to yours.
Nothing gets on better, Yosemite Light is still confused.
Perhaps Default folder or Magnet (do you know this apps?) could make troubles?

Third, Sidebar Appearance of MMDC on my MacBook is perfectly correct! Yosemite Light looks like It should be!

But on iMac, I don't know...
My Finder windows look like very well, the sidebar is ok, like your picture.
Maybe my machine has something going down... Thanks to you if you can help me to fix...

I don't think it would be Default Folder X (that causes different
problems related to sandboxing that the developer fixed in a more recent
version). Not sure about Magnet. Try turning it off and rebooting and
    see what happens?

Tried (both Default Folder and Magnet), Yosemite Light doesn't work at all...

Did you customize any system colors on that machine??

No, I didn't. Usually I don't set up particularly my Mac because I'm afraid of some break down.

I could be wrong, but I think this is something specific to your machine -- either another application/customization, or something that got corrupted. (Have you run Disk First Aid recently).

I'll leave it open in case anyone else sees similar behavior, and maybe we can narrow down the cause.

I haven't heard any other reports of this, and have yet to see it in any of my testing.

I'm going to close it, and if you learn anything new, or see it happen on a different machine we can have another go at it.
