Beta doesn't always update with Sparkle?
I've not had many problems with Sparkle over the year, but today it doesn't seem to work when upgrading to 4.0b11 or 4.0b12 (I skipped 10).
If it won't update, then just download the latest version directly from link here. (I usually try to keep that link updated, but the numbering scheme isn't hard to figure out.

Sounds like it is related to sandboxing -- the first few betas I released were not sandboxed, but now they are. As mentioned elsewhere, I think it's important to understand Composer's behavior when sandboxed to ensure everything is working properly.
I'll need to decide what to do, but you can always download latest version here:

I had that problem trying to update beta13, so I downloaded it directly but b13 crashes on trying to open an mmd file.

Found it. Should be fixed in b14.
