A title would be reader-facing, but the path to the bibtex file would be code-facing.

The links you include (the GitHub.io) are the most recent published documentation. The only distinction is that I work in the develop branch on GitHub, and pull to master when ready to release a new official version. If you find it easier to look at shorter sections of the documentation, the metadata portion is primarily here -- https://fletcher.github.io/MultiMarkdown-6/syntax/metadata.html

The Support files are for Composer, not MultiMarkdown per se. They are for customizing the editor -- syntax highlighting, preview CSS, autocompletion/spelling dictionaries, and shortcut expansions.

These are older, and not necessarily updated for v6, but give an idea of how the overall process works -- https://github.com/fletcher/MultiMarkdown-Gallery

Fletchertag:support.multimarkdown.com,2013-02-12:Discussion/196684522021-11-05T06:02:41Z2022-03-04T21:04:58ZMultiMarkdown Composer defect (Default Preview CSS setting ignored)

I'm sorry for the delay in responding -- I had a family emergency to deal with, and I am still trying to get caught back up with everything.

I'm sorry you had trouble with Composer -- A "pre-beta" version of MultiMarkdown Composer 5 is available for testing. It is almost feature complete, and the core text engine has been heavily tested during the beta testing for nvUltra. You will likely find that the new version has fixed the issue you were having, as it has been completely rewritten from scratch with many improvements.

As always, and especially with pre-release software, be careful with your data -- use backups, and verify that saved files match your expectations.

You can download a recent build of the beta here -- https://s3.amazonaws.com/files.multimarkdown.com/composer5/MMDComposer5-2022-03-02.zip

As the program moves into a larger "public beta" and beyond, more information will be available.

Thanks,

working on.

The delay when toggling the TOC is related to adjusting the text editor
view, not loading the TOC data. If you put the insertion point at the
top of the document and toggle, it's fast. If you are at the bottom,
it's slow. This is part of macOS, and to my knowledge there is not much
I can do about it.

The TOC data is cached, but when the TOC is hidden there is no reason to
update the data (e.g if someone never uses the TOC, they shouldn't take
the performance hit of updating it with every keystroke.) So when you
toggle the TOC on, it needs to be updated. But this delay comes after
the TOC appears (if your insertion point is at the top).

You can demonstrate this by cutting all text, then collapsing the TOC.
Paste the text back in, move insertion to top, and then expand TOC.
You'll see a slight delay before the TOC contents are loaded, but the
panel expands quickly.

Replacing the data in MMDC v4 is a bit slow, but again not the primary
issue here. Regardless, MMDC v5 uses a different approach that is much
faster overall, but it doesn't change the text layout issue that is the
primary problem.

It's in early beta, so please be sure to protect your data (backups, keep an eye on saved files to make sure all is well, etc.)

As I get a bit further along in the process, I will publicize this more.

Fletcher

Fletchertag:support.multimarkdown.com,2013-02-12:Discussion/206425122022-02-06T10:40:29Z2022-02-08T13:25:53Zsaving impossible

The pattern I have gotten into over the years includes:

I "leapfrog" my two machines (desktop and laptop). I upgrade the OS one one of them, and leave the other one unchanged. This lets me test my programs on two different major OS versions. If another app breaks (one that I purchased), I can still use it on the other machine while I figure out a solution.

When it's time to upgrade a machine, I jump ahead to the latest version and usually will wipe the drive and start fresh. This means it takes longer to get everything working, but it's more reliable. It also forces me to be more organized, and I've streamlined the software that I need to install, and have systems to make it really easy to gain access to my important documents/folders.

It's sort of like a car -- you can just drive it every day and not maintain it, but eventually it's going to break down and leave you stranded. Maintenance is annoying, but helps avoid major problems. ;)

Good luck!

told it to apply the default CSS to a webview before it was created.

Instead you will have to select a CSS file from the menu bar for the
window after it is open.

I'm working on a major update to Composer and this problem doesn't exist
there. Depending on timing, might have to push out a bug fix release
before then.

the macOS. I was able to find the others through Google.

But if all you are doing is specifying shortcuts for menu items, then
the easiest way is probably to use the keyboard system preferences.
This allows you to set shortcuts for any application on your computer,
and to do it using a GUI interface.

The keybinding file is intended for adding new commands, or for creating
more complex commands using a series of actions. It's pretty powerful,
but does require some experimenting to accomplish what you're looking
for sometimes. It's a bit cumbersome if you're simply overriding menu
command shortcuts (unless you're trying to copy a custom configuration
to multiple machines, I suppose.)

Fletcher

Fletchertag:support.multimarkdown.com,2013-02-12:Discussion/196340142021-09-03T14:28:39Z2021-09-03T17:08:04ZWhen opening a new document, have to reselect CSS

Thanks for writing in!

Are these new text files, or files that have been previously opened in
Composer? The preferences control the default CSS, which is used for
files that do not have a manually selected CSS. Using the Menu bar or
context menu changes the CSS for that particular file, and will be
remembered if the file is opened again later. If you change the default
CSS in the preferences, files that have a manually overridden CSS will
not change.

The same thing is true for themes as well.

You can always delete your preferences to start fresh if you have
manually overridden a bunch of files that you want to change to a new
default:

defaults delete com.multimarkdown.composer4.mac

The iOS build is not in beta, but rather is in an alpha stage of
development. When it gets closer to being ready (after nvUltra 1.0 is
final, and after Composer 5 for macOS is released), I'll put out a call
for testers.

You could send a screenshot instead and I could take a look. But looking at my old receipts from Apple do show the Apple ID that you can ensure matches the one you are currently logged into the App Store with.

So far all I can tell you is that the receipt you sent me does not have any In-App Purchases included. The most likely explanation is that the purchase was made on a different user account or in a different country's app store? If restoring purchases within the application does not work, then you will have to get support from Apple. There is nothing I can do on that end since I don't work for Apple.

Alternatively, if you have another machine without Monterey, you could test on that device to see if the problem is Monterey. I don't have a Monterey machine to test myself (largely because the beta OS releases are too unstable for my purposes and in my experience -- your experience may vary of course!)

Sorry I can't do anything else, but Apple can help if you are unable to download prior purchases.

Opening (say) four folders in nvUltra goes quite nicely. (See attachment.)
I would find it very helpful to have this mirrored both in MMD Composer, and in Marked2, that is, open all files of one folder as tabs of one window, and all files of another folder, as tabs of another window.
Is that possible?
Thank you,
